VETERANS
USUALLY the Sunraysia Veteran Golfers Association competitions are held on the first Monday of each month.
However, in November the race that stops a nation also delays our next competition.
Instead, this will be held on Monday, November 11 at Red Cliffs Golf Club.
The contest will be a single Stableford and will be the penultimate round, but as it is our annual general meeting round it also makes it the last of the rounds where loyalty or incentive points are awarded.
We will have a newly elected executive to take to the Christmas event that will be held at Riverside in December.
It is acknowledged that there are clear advantages if you are a member of the association.
Players participate in 10 events at various clubs with opportunities for good prizes.
While the diversity of courses is a plus, it can be a disadvantage. There is a need for people to travel each month.
Our Robinvale and Ouyen members have the longest distances overall but all our members do have to travel each month.
Others have to make arrangements to collect their carts and transport them.
To support players who make an effort to regularly participate, the loyalty or incentive program rewards those who have had consistent attendance.
There are three prizes for both A and B grades and these are to compensate for the costs incurred.
The points have been awarded throughout the year with September being the last month.
Des Zimmerman has tallied the scores and the winners will be announced at the December meeting.
The new incentive program starts this month.
Thanks for the continuous support from everyone this year.
We will see everyone at Red Cliffs. Until then, happy golfing.
