RIVERSIDE
ON Monday in the Mens Veterans and Friends Competition they played Stableford on a lovely warm day.
The winner was Gary Sharman on 39 points and the runner-up was Ken Upton on 38 points. Only one NTP by John Fraser (7th 370).
Tuesday the Ladies played Par and the winner was Maeve Fraser on +7, the runner-up was Ayse Jewitt on +3. NTP’s were: Ayse Jewitt (4th 630), Ayse Jewitt (7th 950), Pat Riordan (12th 500), Pat Riordan (18th 260).
On Wednesday the Men had their Winter Wind Up and Mug of the Year play off, so Stroke was the game. The winner of the yearly Monthly Award was Jim Callaway on 67 nett. The A Grade winner was Dale Meredith on 68 nett and the Runner-up was Peter George on 70 nett.
B grade winner was Max Watt on 70 nett and the Runner-up was Cliff Young on 71 nett. NTP’s were: Alan Connolly (4th 42), George Riordan (7th 1200), Michael Englefield (12th 938), Jon Slatter (18th 920).
Thursday the Ladies played stroke and the annual Monthly Medal was played off. The winner of the Medallist of the Year will be announced and the Trophy will be presented at the Ladies Wind Up on Thursday, October 31. The daily winner on Thursday was Tracey Coulson on 68 nett and the runner-up was Maeve Fraser on 74 nett. NTP’s were: Jen Stephenson (4th 1485), Meg Hamence (7th 636), Pat Riordan (12th 81), Maeve Fraser (18th 25).
The Ladies Stableford 9 Hole Comp on Thursday was won by Barb Hart on 15 points, and the runner-up was Prudence Hyde on 10 points.
Fridays Medley 9 Hole Stableford Competition was won by Gavin Graham on 22 points and the runner-up was James Minns on 19 points on a countback from Peter Winslow. NTP’s were: 4th John Fraser, 5th John Marlais, 6th Peter Winslow, 7th John Marlais.
On Saturday the men played Stableford and the A Grade winner was Steven Wilmann on 38 points, runner-up Marty Scott on 36 points on a countback from Michael Holcroft. B Grade winner was Kevin Challis on 43 points and the runner-up was Ken Hornsby on 37 points. NTP’s were: Alec Cattanach (4th 245), Brad Steer (7th 410), Jarrad Stoker (12th 419), Cliff Young (17th 130), Michael Holcroft (18th 96). The highlight of the day was an eagle from Jordan White on the 13th. Congratulations Jordan.
On Saturday the Ladies played Stroke and the Monthly Award for the year was finalized. The winner will be announced and given their Trophy at the Wind Up on Thursday, October 31. The daily event was won by Ayse Jewitt on 71 nett and the runner-up was Lorraine Palmer on 73 nett. NTP’s were:
Lorraine Palmer (7th 850), Tracey Coulson (12th 425), Ayse Jewitt (18th 107). Another highlight of the Day was an eagle from Wendy Dawson on the 5th. Congratulations Wendy.
Sunday’s event was Medley Stableford, the winner was Mark Pullman on 40 points and the runner-up was Andrew Hill on 37 points. Only one NTP – Larry Cavallaro (18th 240).
Also on Sunday, The River Town Classic – Stableford was held at Riverside and I am sure all the results will be produced by the organizers of this three day event.

WENTWORTH
Wednesday nights Chicken Run saw Ged Chapman a comfortable winner on 37 nett. This brings Ged into scratch for the Wednesday stroke round.
Runner-up Thomas Clark with 38 nett showing he is on the improve for a new member.
Third was Howard Richmond Hankinson with 41 nett.
Thursday Stableford was a close result between out of form golfers with John Stephens prevailing with 35 points from runner up Bill Slee 33 points.
Ball winners – he who wasn’t there 30 points and Bill Murray 29 points.
NTP: Bill Slee with a ball that never left the ground but you dont need to draw pictures, measured 595 cm.
Max Hodges produced the low score of the day to claim Mr Risky.
MERBEIN
Very dusty and windy conditions on Friday, then followed up on Saturday with just wind, proved a little too hard to handle for some of the players.
Des Forman had 17 points on Friday and literally going home with a meat tray and Michael Cook playing some good shots to finish +2 on Saturday.

MILDURA
THE ladies played single stroke in two grades on Tuesday, October 15. In A grade, Glenys Anderson scored net 70 for a win, with Jan Mierswa second on net 72. The best net score of the day was net 68 for Kim Ingram, which won B grade. Bev Matthews was second in B grade with net 71. Balls were awarded to players with net 73 or better. Nearest the pin prizes went to Fran Richards (first hole, 1120 cm); Glenys Anderson (second hole, 396 cm); Rhonda Young (tenth hole, 92 cm); and Sandra Hutchinson (twelfth hole, 250 cm).
The men played single stableford in two grades on Wednesday, October 16. Thomas Ferguson scored 41 points, to win A grade from Nigel Ingram and Joe Rocca, both on 38 points. However, the best score of the day was from Steve Peters, 42 points, which won B grade. Philip Webster was second in B grade on 37 points, and Peter Briggs third with 36 points. Nineteen balls were awarded to players with 34 points or better.
Garry Smart won the nearest the pin prize on the first hole (203 cm); Alan Lay won on the second hole (292 cm), and won the pig prize with 292 cm); Jamie Lanyon won the NTP on the twelfth hole (203 cm); and Robert Young won on the eighteenth (520 cm).
The Telstra twilight nine hole competition on Friday, October 18 was won by Jayden Boehm who scored 23 points; and Luke Hubble was second on 19 points. Balls were awarded to players with 16 points or better.
The annual Captain’s versus Presidents stableford competition on Saturday, October 19 was in three grades. The A grade winner was Robert Young who had 37 points; Ernie Tyrrell was second with 36 points, and Peter Miatke scored 35 points for third place. The best score of the day was Jeff Collett’s 38 points in B grade; Bruce Dickie was second with 36 points, and Peter Briggs third with 35 points. C grade was won by Graeme Tulloch (35 points); and minor places went to Newton Morrison and Lachlan Cottrell, both on 34 points.
The final outcome of the teams event was that the President’s team won with an aggregate total of 1282 points, and the Captain’s team had 1262 points.
Nearest the pin prizes went to Joe Rocca (first hole, 54 cm); Peter Hartmann (second hole, 345 cm) which also won the Pig prize; Shay Toma (tenth hole, 162 cm), Josef Moisidis (twelfth hole, 113 cm); and Keith Williams (eighteenth hole, 860 cm).
A field of 21 veteran men enjoyed their usual stableford competition on Monday, October 21. George Poriazis was the winner with 39 points, Cliff Ferguson (35 points) was second; and Ferdi Bergamin (34 points) was third. Balls went to players with 32 points or better. Keith Wiliams won the nearest the pin on the second hole (195 cm); and Steve Peters won on the twelfth hole (130 cm).

RED CLIFFS
Wednesday, October 16 the ladies played a Triple Six game. The winning team was a family affair with Bobbie Ramsay and her daughters Sue Gathercole and Sally Jones scoring 75 points to win from Ruth Cupper. Jan Boyce and Sandy Wright on 73 points. Balls went to Deb Hassell Kath Cattanach and Marion Pengelly.

In the Men’s competition Michael Hogan was the winner on 36 points from Al Rayner on 35 points on a countback. Balls went to Jeffrey Scott Neville Birch and Rodney Gray.
NTP: 8th Ray Pain; Jeffrey Scott was a straight shooter winning NTP’s on 15, 17 and 18.
Saturday Medley Stableford Noreen Smith on 35 points was the winner from husband Geoffrey on 33 points on a countback. Balls went to Kath Cattanach Rodney Gray and Liz Leach.
NTP: Liz Leach was on the ball taking out four of the five NTP’s on 3, 8, 12 and 17. Ron Simmons won the NTP for the men on the 12th.
River Town Classic was held on Saturday at Red Cliffs.
In the Ladies Kay Hart was the winner on 36 points from Joyce Bullock 33 points. Balls went to Marg Lampard and Stephanie Baker.
