VETERANS
THERE are just under two weeks before the district veteran golfers travel to Merbein for their next round.
On October 7, the field will set off to complete a single par round.
With the weather warming and the opportunities to accumulate additional points in the loyalty program there is an expectation of a good field.
If the scores from Monday’s vets at Riverside are an indication the challenge of a single par round will not restrict many from participating or scoring well as the day promises to competitive.
Competition is not the sole reason for participation. Ask why district events are popular, members will share it is not only the opportunities to play a different course each month or the possibility of winning prizes that is valued.
The friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome from the clubs are also appreciated. Added to the bonus of a light lunch, a celebrative drink at the 19th hole and good conversation after, the day is both a sports and social occassion.
Good news this month is that we will have our captain John Green returning to complete his duties as captain. Despite recovering from injury he will not be able to play.
We have organised the venues and dates for next year’s syllabus but we are yet to finalise the actual events.
Members are asked to provide feedback as this process has to be completed soon to enable us to have printed syllabus available before our AGM.
Rest up as the Sunday morning before is the beginning of Daylight Saving in Victoria. Until next time happy golfing.
