VETERANS

BETWEEN our events the purpose of these vet reports is to remind current players of the running of this month’s game and to encourage and invite potential new members.

Spring has sprung it would seem.

We have had eight millimetres of rain and the temperature has started to rise.

Members are returning from their winter hibernation from the north.

In effect the conditions for playing golf have taken a turn for the better.

As a result the veteran golfers numbers are likely to rise at our next events.

Some will be motivated to achieve the maximum score in the incentive competition while others will be pleased to reacquaint themselves with fellow players.

And what better time to join us. Our next game is a single par to be held at the Royal Merbein Golf Club on October 17.

Although the weather is changing some things stay the same.

The day starts with registration at 8.30am and a shotgun start around 9.30.

We have an A and a B grade competition and nearest the pins on all par threes.

As usual there are good prizes and a lunch supplied by the club.

Enjoy a drink before presentations at the nineteenth hole before departing for what will be for some a well earned afternoon nap.

Sounds idyllic doesn’t it?

That’s some of the attractions of being a member of the district veteran golfers association.

Become part of the fun and the friendship by turning up on the day or alternatively start playing weekly at your local club.

We hope to see a good field at Merbein.
