VETERANS

MONDAY’S competition at Robinvale was another enjoyable and successful day.

Thirty-six players enjoyed a real Spring day with warm and sunny conditions.

Numbers were good as we were joined by six local guests and local knowledge proved an advantage.

Noel Rodgers again stepped in to be our acting captain as John recovers from back surgery.

We hope John makes a quick recovery and that he can join us next month at Merbein. The majority of the field were in carts but a few decided to walk.

The competition was a single Stableford and the winner in A Grade was Chris Gorman (39) from Peter Jury (37).

In B Grade, our president Kevin Jones followed up from last month to once again take out first place.

In absolutely sizzling form, Kevin blitzed the field with 44 points with Vern Morrish taking second.

NTPs were: Keith Rogers (first and 14th), Dennis Griffith (fourth) and Greg King (seventh and ninth).

The 11th was elusive with no one skilled enough to land on the green. That’s a challenge for us next time.

Thanks to Robinvale Golf Club for their support, the tasty lasagna lunch and their hospitality.

Players are reminded that our next event will be held at Merbein on October 7, a single par event.

It was pointed out we are approaching our AGM and members should consider standing for a leadership position. Until then, happy hitting.
