Warm welcome at swim champs

VICTORIA’S best regional swimmers continued to battle it out under warm temperatures at Mildura Waves yesterday, with the three-day annual meet – which rotates around the state – set to conclude today.

The Victorian Country Long Course Swimming Championships was whittled down to the best 700 competitors in the state, with swimmers having to meet rigorous time standards to compete.

The event, which will be back in Mildura in 2027, has hosted enthusiastic crowds and is being streamed on Kayo Freebies and YouTube.

Mildura Swimming Club is hosting the event with support from Mildura Waves and Mildura Rural City Council.

Today’s finale will include the presentation of the Alan Monaghan Shield for the best swimming club and the Herb Jeffery Award for the top individual swimmer.
