RED CLIFFS

LAST Thursday a medley Stableford was played and Jeff Scott won A Grade with 39 points from runner-up Ryan Samaras with 37 points. B Grade winner was Heather Shaw with 39 points from runner-up Ray Pain on 37 points.

Balls: Ryan Dowdy, Michael Hogan, Michael Morrall, Neville Walker, Glen Riordan, Neville Tickner and Bobbie Ramsay.

NTPs: 8th – K. Russell, S. Gathercole; 12th – G. Bettess; 15th – G. Bettess, H. Shaw; 18th – M. Morrall.

The Monthly Medal was played on Saturday with Tom Minns winning the men’s A Grade with 69 net from runner-up Tim Bell 70 net on a countback. In B Grade Malcolm Blagus had 71 net to win on a countback from Rohan Hillier.

Balls: Shayne Dempsey, Ben Hogan, Greg Young, Al Rayner, Shane Johns, Andrew Bateman, Neville Tickner and Simon Rodgers.

Brad Steer had an eagle on the 10th hole. NTPs: 3rd – N. Tickner; 8th – B. Steer; 12th – L. Wood; 15th – T. Johns: 17th – B. Overton. 

Deb Dark had 71 net to win the ladies event with Biddy Pitt runner-up on a countback with 72 net.

VETERANS

THE Best Price Golf single Stableford event will be played at the Red Cliffs Golf Club on Monday, June 3.

The Red Cliffs golf course is in great condition at the moment and a warm welcome is always received. Lunch is generous and the 19th hole most inviting.

Registration is at 8.30am for a shotgun start at 9am. Entry is $20 which covers a competition fee and lunch. For new mem-bers there is a one-off joining fee of $10.


COOMEALLA

THIS Wednesday is a Stableford event; Friday is the Presidents Port 12-hole medley Stableford; Saturday and Sunday are Stableford events.

Last Wednesday was a Stableford event:

Men: A Grade: David McPhee 41 points, runner-up Tim Plumridge 41 points, third Jim Clarke 37 points.

B Grade: Jackson Ferguson 40 points, runner-up Peter Barnes 38 points, third Luke Shelly 36 points.

John Gray and Murray Appleby had 46 points from runners-up Tim Plumridge and Greg Craig 45 points, third was Thomas Clarke Tosic and Allison Clarke Tosic 45 points, fourth was Neil Bryant and Greg King 43 points. Balls: (11) 46-41 points.

MILDURA

THE ladies played Monthly Medal stroke and putting on Tuesday, May 21. The nine-hole winner was Faye Casey with 35 net from Marilyn Warn on 38 net. The 18-hole winner was Val Whitelaw with net 71 on a countback from Ruth Rodi. Susan Telfar won the putting award with 33.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Ruth Rodi 1620cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Michelle Blair 60cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Bev Matthews 397cm.

Balls: (4) 71-72 net.

Last Wednesday the men played par. A Grade winner was Neville Hodgetts with +4. Runner-up was Ross Bowe +3 and third on countback was Les Williams +1.

B Grade winner was John Hiskens on +2 from runner-up Rod Ford on +1 on a countback from Graham Robertson.

Balls: (18) +4 to -1 on a countback.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Garry Smart 54cm; 2nd Pig– John Williams 342cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Rod Ford 1200cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Peter Rhodes 230cm.

Friday’s ladies Stableford winner was Ruth Rodi with 32 points from runner-up Bev Matthews on 31 points.

Saturday’s medley Stableford had 106 players take to the course in three grades.

A Grade winner was Rob Donaldson with 39 points on a countback from runner-up Les Williams while David Murray came in third with 38 points on a countback from George Poriazis.

B Grade winner was Ben Nitschke with 42 points from runner-up James Pippin on a countback on 38 points from third placed Gavan Tellefson and Jason O’Brien.

C Grade winner was Chris Szigeti on 40 points from runner-up Rod Truman on 37 points with third place gong to Graham Robertson on 36 points.

Balls: (26) 42-34 points on a countback.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Brian Bird 93cm; 2nd Pig – Trevor Spanos 750cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Ross Bowen 390cm.

This Wednesday is Stableford off the red tees.


RIVERSIDE

THERE were some great scores recorded in the Stableford event held on Monday, May 20 with Travis Biddle snatching the win on a countback over Cooper Mitchell, both players on 40 points.

Balls: 33 points on a countback.

NTPs: 7th – Rob Arnold 290cm; 8th – David Lloyd 640cm.

The ladies enjoyed a par event on Tuesday in the nine-hole competition. Lyn Thompson came in square for the win in front of Wendy Dawson who was runner-up on a countback with Verna Wakefield, both on -1.

NTPs: 12th – Pat Riordan 107cm; 18th – Wendy Dawson 210cm.

It was par for the members and visitors last Wednesday played in two grades.

Cooper Mitchell continued his good form completing his round on +5 to win A Grade from Ash Whitehouse hot on his heels with a brilliant +4 off his scratch handicap.

Lukas Pedder on +2 won B Grade, with a countback giving Peter George runner-up over Laurie Riordan, both on +1.

Balls: -1 on a countback.

Graeme Southwell practically had the NTPs wrapped up taking out all but one of the holes: Zilzie Wines 4th – 287cm; 7th – 65cm; 12th – 365cm; Good Deal Tyres 18th – Jeff Riordan 88cm.

On Thursday the ladies had a good field 

for their visitors day and played a two-person aggregate Stableford.

Lirlene Crozier and Selma Mayne had 70 points to take the win in front of runners-up Suzy Conquest and Michelle Blair (Mildura) on 69 points. Christine Hartley (Mildura) and Gayle Ford (Mildura) were in third place on 67 points after a countback against Maureen Barry (Mitta Mitta) and Kerry Beggs.

Balls: 62 points.

Lirlene Crozier also took home the trophy for the straightest drive.

NTPs: 4th – Kerry Beggs 201cm; 7th – Lirlene Crozier 730cm; 12th – Janet Luke 7cm; 18th – Maureen Barry with a birdie.

Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford winner was Reece Plummer with 25 points from runner-up Reece Merlin on 22 points.

The Riverside Open was played on Saturday and Sunday.

A Grade winner Lisa Garioch 73 net, runner-up Angela Plumridge (Coomealla) 74 net. B Grade winner Kathy Ridley 73 net, runner-up Marie Hudak 76 net.

Chris Williams played the par five 14th hole perfectly leaving with an eagle.

Men’s open final day:

Gross: A Grade: Three players finished exactly the same scores of 75-73=148. Due to the lack of daylight at the end of the day to complete the play-off, it was decided to declare a three-way tie. In doing so there was no runner-up awarded. Congratulations to the winners – Ash Whitehouse, Domenic Vartuli and Brendan Rowse.

Riverside members have been shocked by the loss of two of it’s members over the past week. Nick Goodieson and Michael Salter were good friends to many at Riverside and will be sadly missed. Our condolences go out to their families.


MERBEIN

LAST Wednesday’s Stableford winner was Shane Gerring 34 points on countback from Ryan Teasdale and Frank Crouch.
