Sunraysia Football Netball season in review: Robinvale Euston, Ouyen and Red Cliffs

TODAY marks the third and final installment of MITCH RODD's 2021 season assessment of the SFNL football clubs, finishing with Robinvale Euston, Ouyen United and Red Cliffs. Sunraysia Daily's SFNL A Grade netball series will begin on Saturday.

ROBINVALE EUSTON

Ladder position: 7th

Record: 2-9Club champion: In a season where the Eagles had to go through 41 players, on-baller Ryan Middlebrook was forced into defence through necessity and proved a measure of consistency, playing all 11 games and featuring in their best in most of those. People outside the club may also forget how effective ruck/forward Justin Neyland is as well.Best newcomer: He only joined the side in Round 6 but Justin Marriott had an instant impact by adding depth to the Eagles midfield. Travel restrictions did hurt his availability later on. You imagine Brodie Hodson would have been in the conversation if not for a broken ankle in the early rounds.Young player on the rise: It's hard to believe Ricardo Liparota is just 18-years-old. He's already the size of a mountain! The key forward also loves to make his presence felt when running through players, an old-school big man's mentality. James Zappia and Joseph Mezzatesta also made themselves at home in the forward line.Best win: Let's roll back to Round 2 when the Eagles held off Wentworth. Both sides were inaccurate but it looked like the only way was up for the home side at that stage of the season. Winning by 50 points against Ouyen United in Round 9 would have also been sweet.Toughest loss: Despite all their personnel issues, Robinvale Euston lost three games by less than 10 points. They might have wished for a few extra minutes in the Round 12 loss to South Mildura, coming back from 27 points down at three quarter time only to fall short by three points.Coaches assessment - Andrew Richardson:

"We had some good expectations for this year but we probably just didn't gel early and then after getting some serious injuries, we just never really got going at all.
