19-YEAR-OLD rising star Jack Cottrell's success might have been written in the stars or - more likely - his DNA.

His leading role models in the Sunraysia Football Netball League (SFNL) are two cousins: Merbein star Josh Carmichael and Nick Cottrell, who Jack said is having an outstanding season.
