MILDURA had just three days of 40-degree temperatures this summer compared to 11 the previous year.

However the mercury was almost spot on when it came to long-term averages.

The start of summer was a mixed bag with December recording three days when maximum temperatures reached 24 or less.

The highest temperature for the month was two days after Christmas, when the mercury tipped 39.6 degrees.
