Dry conditions suck life out of fodder market

Thursdays Ouyen sheep sale with almost 8000 head saw crossbred sucker trade lambs slip $20, and they were in much lighter and drier condition than previous sales. Crossbred sucker stores did slightly better and were firm to $5 cheaper.

THE fodder fight is on – the fight to get it for hungry stock and, if you have plenty, the fight to get the best possible price for it.

Either way, with the Mallee in the grip of sustained dry conditions, everyone would love to have more.

Demand is so high, even online agricultural market place AuctionsPlus is under siege from growers desperate to keep stock going.
