Giant 'sand slug' threatens to change Murray's course

SIX options are being explored to reduce the massive sand slug in the Barmah-Millewa reach of the Murray River, which will have "dire consequences" to water users, the environment and community if no action is taken to address it.

The Barmah-Millewa reach is the narrowest section of the river that runs through the Barmah-Millewa Forest near Echuca and Deniliquin in the mid-Murray region.
