Tasty walking tour of Mildura

SUNRAYSIA residents will have the opportunity to experience some of the region’s “premium” food, wine, beer and gin at the Crafted by Mildura – Taste Better Walk 2021 event being held next weekend.

The second annual event is looking to already be more successful than the first, with tickets having almost sold out.

Project managers Sharon Morrell and Sarah Gilmore said the event is the “perfect” way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

“There hasn’t been many celebrations or events recently due to COVID so it’s great to have this back and to support local businesses,” Ms Gilmore said.

“The event links together what our region represents and brings it in as a celebration.”

Ms Gilmore said not only does the event promote local produce and products but encourages people to branch out further than their usual go to locations.

“People were amazed last year by the places they didn’t know we had in Mildura,” she said.

“Some of the people had never stepped foot into the Mildura Club or The Art Vault but now it is somewhere they may think about taking their family and friends back to in the future.”

This year the tour will visit Sunraysia Cellar Door, Fossey’s Distillery, Bullfish Bar & Bistro, Stefano’s Café, Grand Hotel Rose Garden, Mildura Brewery, Secret Garden, The Corporate Moose and sip. Cocktail Bar.

Each venues is within walking distance and will host a different winery or distillery paired with locally inspired food by a range of local caterers and chefs, with attendees also able to enjoy live music at various locations.

Mildura Rural City Council event and projects co-ordinator Sara Wrate said the event had been partly funded by the COVID Event Recovery Grant.

“There has been a disconnect within our community due to COVID restrictions, which is something council identified through the COVID impact survey,” she said.

“Now is a good opportunity for events such as the Taste Better Walk to apply for the quick turnaround grants and to re-establish some events within the community.”

Crafted by Mildura – Taste Better Walk 2021 will be held on Sunday, March 7 from 10.30am.

Tickets are available online from trybooking.com/BOLNE.
