Thomas wins Innes

GOL Gol all-rounder Shacaya Thomas is the latest player to be added to an exclusive club after claiming the Sunraysia Cricket Association Les Innes Medal on Wednesday night.

The Jamaican-born star won the first division best and fairest for the third time in five seasons and becomes the eighth player since the award’s inception in 1974 to become a three-time winner.

He joins competition greats Wayne Carmichael, Michael Hogarth, Tom Vadlja, David Hogarth, Mark Cleary, Richie Wyld and Chris Williams in achieving the feat.

Thomas is also the first player to win the award in consecutive seasons since Mark White in 2007.

In the Women’s MVP count, league stars Shania McKinnon (Mildura Settlers) and Katelin Kemp (Coomealla Wentworth) tied for the award, making it four and three medals win respectively for the duo.

Emerging star Josh Driscoll also became the first Mildura West player to win the under-16 John Hall Medal.
