Mildura East player profiles

MILDURA EAST PLAYER PROFILES

Josh Berry – Coach

THE coach and long-time servant of the Mildura East Cricket Club is one of four players who featured in their last premiership win a decade ago.

Hasn’t had his most prolific season with the bat but knows how to score important runs when needed.

Brad Thomas – Co-Captain

The 2016/17 Innes Medal winner has been outstanding with the bat this campaign, sitting sixth overall with 547 runs.

Thomas has two centuries for the season but also proved his mettle with a gritty 32 from 145 deliveries when his team required it.

Andrew Ross – Co-Captain

EAST’S leading wicket taker for the season with 24 wickets, Ross has been a measure on consistency with the ball.

Ross has eight wickets in his past five innings, but has also contributed important runs in the middle order.

Josh Andrews

A SOLID debut season for the import from Derbyshire, England, who has fit in well at the top of the batting order.

Andrews has three half-centuries in his 368 runs, alongside 18 dismissals as wicket keeper.

Josh Bowyer

NOT quite as prolific in his second season at East, but the Englishman has provided a solid platform opening the batting.

Bowyer has two half-centuries in his 263 runs but has ability to reach triple figures in Sunraysia.

Regan Connell

ONE of four players who featured in Mildura East’s last flag a decade ago, who brings experience and composure to the table.

Wasn’t required to bat in the semi-final but made an important 61 late in the season to prove he can do so.

Dillan Drew

SPENT most of the early season in the second XI but has been a regular member of the squad in the back half of the campaign.

Can provide some middle order stability, as proved by his patient late innings partnering Ross during the semi-final.

Nick Dorman

AN impressive first division campaign for the tall fast bowler, who began like a house on fire.

Dorman has collected 16 scalps and will add plenty of bowling depth if selected in the final XI.

Luke Hansen

HAS played across all of the top three grades this year and produced some solid performances with bat and ball.

Was economic against a strong Gol Gol batting unit in the semi-final after returning to the line-up following a seven-wicket haul the previous week.

Jayden Hunt

THE young speedster has been super-impressive across the campaign, claiming 25 wickets and getting better as the season has gone on.

A five-wicket haul in the final home and away match was followed by a superb four-wicket haul to put East on the front foot in the semi.

Ryan Muir

JOINING the ranks this season, the veteran pace bowler has exceeded expectations in his role at the top of the innings.

Muir has taken 22 wickets for the campaign and formed a strong pace bowling attack alongside Ross and Hunt.

Tom Vadlja

THE seven-time Innes Medal winner continues to play an important role in the first division side with the bat and ball.

Vadlja has made 486 runs for the season and also taken 19 wickets as the team’s leading spinner.
