Cricketers able to show their skills again

AFTER a four-year hiatus, All Abilities Cricket swung back into action on Thursday and Friday.

Held at Mildura Senior College, the carnival gave those with a disability the chance to play against others at a similar skill level.

Eight teams padded up for multiple ten-over games, where all players batted for two overs and bowled for one.

Lachie Giles, from Mallee Sports Assembly, was confident the event would grow.

“It’s all gone really smoothly, everyone’s thrilled to be back for the first time in a few years,” he said.

“There’s definitely a few diehard players that live and breathe cricket, they were definitely keen to get back out there.

“We’re hoping now that people see that it’s running, they’ll want to get involved next year … we expect more people next time.”

At stumps on Friday, the event was capped off by a visit from a Melbourne Renegades mascot, while all players shared a meal and laughs.
