Four sides vie for finals spot

THE remaining finals positions are still an open race coming into the penultimate round of the Red Cliffs Cricket Association season.

Ouyen and Robinvale Euston have each secured the home ground advantage for the semis, but Tempy, Fire Brigade, Millewa and Cardross are still in with a chance of making top four.

Millewa’s nine-wicket win over Fire Brigade last week kept their ambitions alive as a victory for the Brigadiers would likely have sealed their place in the top four.

The Bullants head to Tempy on Saturday for another potential early elimination final before they end the campaign against the ladder-leading Ouyen Rams.

Fire Brigade will look to bounce back against Robinvale Euston while Cardross play host to Ouyen.

An inspired all-round game from Scottie Clark, taking a brilliant 5/8 from eight overs with five maidens plus an unbeaten 37 with the bat, helped Millewa to a nine-wicket victory.

It was their first win since beating Cardross in early January.

Fire Brigade were dismissed for 91 with skipper Lachy Rohde top scoring with 33 before Clark rounded out a good all-round day with an unbeaten 37, sharing an unbroken 55-run partnership with Matt Daly (39 not out) to win with 13 overs still to spare.

Tempy also recorded an important win over Cardross by seven wickets to move into third place.

The Lions were dismissed for 79, Noah Lanigan top-scoring with 19 as Tate Hulland, Heath Smith, Nic Monaghan and Joel Grace all took two wickets each.

Hulland (30) and Ben Mole (25 not out) led the batting to reach the total in the 17th over. Lanigan finished with 2/24.

Ouyen Rams’ winning streak has continued following their four-wicket win over Robinvale Euston.

The Rangers were knocked over for 80 in just 26.2 overs, Augustus Gorman the top scorer with an unbeaten 15 down the order.

Daniel Pryse (4/18) and the in-form Alex Morrish (3/14) did the damage for the ladder leaders.

The Rams didn’t muck around, reaching the total in the 14th over but losing six batters along the way.

Ethan Munro led the charge with 27 while Tom Zappia and Travis Shawcross took two wickets each.
