Sunraysia has winning start to Country Week

SUNRAYSIA have made the best possible start to their Melbourne Country Week campaign with a 48-run victory over Portland on Tuesday.

Co-captain Brad Thomas top scored with 81 from 120 deliveries, including 10 boundaries, while Adam Thomson also impressed at No.6 with 72 from 84 deliveries to help SCA to 9/251 from their 50 overs.

Billy Phelan also delivered a quickfire unbeaten 20 from 16 balls late in the innings.

In response Portland were all out for 203, with spinner Bryson Lush doing the damage, taking 5/34 from his 10 overs.

Charlie Walker was also impressive with early wickets, ending with 2/52 from his 10 overs.

After a round one bye on Monday, Sunraysia face a tough assignment on Wednesday coming up against Warrnambool and District in Brunswick.
