Gol Gol clinch T20 title

HALF centuries to Wade Hancock and Jeremy Barnes helped Gol Gol claim Club Twenty20 victory over Irymple on Thursday night.

Hancock’s 56 from 40 deliveries and Barnes’s quick fire 55 not out from 28 helped set the undefeated side up for a 56-run victory over the Swallows at Henshilwood Oval.

Gol Gol finished their 20 overs at 4/164, and dismissed Irymple in response for 108.

T20 skipper Billy Phelan (26 off 28) and Josh Ephraums (23 off 26) led the charge for the Swallows but Jayden Brooks (3/17) and Luke Hickey (2/13) led the line for a dangerous Gol Gol bowling unit.

It took until the final ball for Coomealla Wentworth to get over the line against Mildura East, coming away with a five-wicket victory at Brian Weightman Oval.

The Blues have moved up to second on the T20 table following the penultimate round and victory next week over Merbein would secure them a grand final berth against Gol Gol.

Josh Bowyer (31 from 35) and Brad Thomas (29 from 28) shared a 47-run opening stand to help East to 7/104 from their allotted overs.

Jake Wright has continued his outstanding form for the Blues with 3/13, his 12 wickets so far having him well clear in the bowling stakes.

Nafis Shaikh (40 off 40) and Jay Turlan (22 off 34) helped their side to victory.

A quickfire 65 off 43 balls from Tom Holmes led Mildura West to a seven-wicket victory over Mildura Settlers at John Hall Oval.

Set 123 for victory, Holmes and Englishman Kian Burns (30 not out from 29) helped guide West to 3/126, with three overs still in hand.

Import Harvey Ault took 2/28 during the run chase.

Earlier Richie Wyld (41 off 36), Josh Coates (38 off 45) and Joel Perry (26 off 27) all made runs as Setts finished at 5/122. Spinner Aaron Feroz took 3/18 for West.

A strong all-round game from Nichols Point coach Luke Coates led his side to a 13-run victory over Merbein at Chaffey Park.

Coates top scored 29 off 27 as the Point made 8/108 then followed up with 3/16 as the Magpies were held to 9/95.

Carmine Cavallaro also impressed for the Pointers with (3/12), while Zeeshan Butt (47 off 60) and Hamim Miah (3/19) had good individual games for the Magpies.
