Red Cliffs Cricket Association Round 15: Top four spot on the line

TEMPY v MILLEWA

THE last spot in the RCCA top four is on the line when Tempy host Millewa today.

The Tigers, last year’s grand finalists, looked close to locked into finals action however Millewa’s surprise victory over ladder leaders Nursery Ridge has brought them roaring back into contention.

While the Bullants are five points behind, they have the momentum and the confidence after their 13-run win against Ridge, while Tempy’s confidence would be knocked about after being rolled for just 27 by Ouyen last week.

Millewa had contributors across the board, led by Tim Plumridge (30 not out and 3/36), David Scammell (27) and Nick Carroll (4/10).

The biggest plus for Tempy last week was another three wickets to Zac Robertson, giving him 13 wickets in his last three games.

It’s all to play for out at Tempy today.

NURSERY RIDGE v ROBINVALE EUSTON

SET to make finals in their first season back in the RCCA for 16 years, it’s been an extremely successful return for Robinvale Euston.

Currently in third place, the Rangers host ladder leaders Nursery Ridge at Len Arnott Oval and a win could put them in the running for a home final.

The Rangers handed Ridge one of their three losses this season, coming back in December and with their opponents surprisingly beaten by Millewa last week, they will feel they are in with a real show.

They will return from a break of sorts with last week’s opponents Cardross having to forfeit, but with Ethan Gill and James Zappia amongst the runs and Luke Benham taking wickets in their last match, they have players in form.

A seventh half-century of the season has taken Ridge batsman Shannon Bowen’s runs total to 733, while Kurt Freer also impressed with 49 last week.

CARDROSS v OUYEN RAMS

A TOUGH old season for Cardross got even tougher last week when they had to forfeit their match against Robinvale Euston.

Hopefully the Lions can get a side together for their final game of the year, coming against second-placed Ouyen Rams.

A win by the Rams would guarantee a top-two finish and a home final at Blackburn Park, potentially against new boys the Rangers.

An unbeaten 73 from Conor Schultz was far and away the best score for Ouyen last week, taking his tally to 466, while Brad Parsons (4/13) and Alex Morrish (3/14) starred with the ball.
