Red Cliffs Cricket Association Round 14: Tall order for Tempy

SOUYEN RAMS v TEMPY

THEY pushed their way into the top four in recent weeks, and today, 2021 grand finalists Tempy have a chance to solidify a finals berth.

It won’t be easy coming up against the second-placed Ouyen Rams at Blackburn Park but after winning their last three games, the Tigers have momentum on their side.

Tempy put together a brilliant 235 in their 40 overs last week against Cardross, led by Ben Mole’s 94 and 40 from Will Grigg, before Zac Robertson continued his great form with the ball to claim consecutive five-wicket hauls.

The Rams are coming off a rare loss in their top of the table clash with Nursery Ridge, where Dom Leach (42), Daniel Pryse (37) and Alex Morrish (2/10) were top performers.

At home Ouyen will be favourites but don’t discount the Tigers.

NURSERY RIDGE v MILLEWA

THE equation is simple for Millewa – win or the finals will be out of reach.

It makes it tough for the Bullants to come up against ladder leaders Nursery Ridge at the Onion Patch, however expect a fight to keep their season alive.

Millewa fell 20 runs short against Robinvale Euston last week despite the efforts of Nick Carrol (29), Tim Plumridge (26), Dylan Twaddle (22) and Matt Daly (3/38).

Shannon Bowen starred for Ridge last week with an unbeaten 100 from 78 balls that included nine sixes. He now has seven innings over 50 for the season for 678 runs at a silly average of 136.

To add to that he took 3/32, with Kurt Freer chipping in with 2/21, to help their side to a six-wicket win over Ouyen.

ROBINVALE EUSTON v CARDROSS

IN their first season back in the RCCA after 16 years, Robinvale Euston have already booked a finals berth.

Now they will aim to dislodge Ouyen from second place to host a final at Len Arnott Oval, starting with Cardross today.

The Rangers put together one of their best team scores against Millewa last week, with Ethan Gill (74) and James Zappia (60) helping their side to 186.

Luke Benham (3/27) then caused some damage with the ball, with Ryan Kitt and Tom Zappia each taking two wickets.

It’s been a tough old season for Cardross who will want to end on a high note. Peter Jory and Shaun Richards looked impressive with the ball last week.
