Nursery Ridge looks to extend lead in Red Cliffs Cricket Association

RED CLIFFS CRICKET ASSOCIATION ROUND 4

LADDER leaders Nursery Ridge hosts Cardross at the Onion Patch at Quandong Park in a bid to extend its lead.

The reigning premiers are the only side to record two wins so far, with all-rounder Shannon Bowen showing his class early. He has unbeaten innings of 44 and 65 as well as three wickets across the two completed matches.

Jarrod McGlashan (4/18) and Jackson Parker (3/16) did most of the damage with the ball last week and could do so again.

After a solid first up win over new boys Robinvale Euston in Round 1, Cardross were unable to make a real challenge against Millewa last week, taking just three wickets and making 6/53 in their 26 overs.

That batting of Ben and Jeremy Aworth at the top of the order held the Lions in good stead in their opening game, and if they can get a solid partnership it could help their side to a decent total.Robinvale Euston v Tempy

ROBINVALE Euston picked up their first win since returning to the RCCA last week and today is another milestone.

After having their Round 2 game washed out, the Rangers are set to return to Riverside Park’s Len Arnott Oval for the first time in 16 years against Tempy.

While Jesse McGinty was more known for his feats with the bat at the former Workers Gol Gol, he was the chief destroyer with the ball taking 4/12 against Ouyen Rams.

Skipper Travis Shawcross scored an important unbeaten 37 on the way to a five wicket win.

There hasn’t been much luck for Tempy so far with the first two rounds washed out before losing to Ridge last week. Last year’s grand finalists have plenty of talent however and will prove a handful for the Rangers.Ouyen Rams v Millewa

MILLEWA batsman Scottie Clark put the competition on notice last week with a strong 72 against Cardross, the highest score of the season so far.

He and Chris Clark will be important for the Bullants as they travel to Blackburn Park to face Ouyen Rams today.

The Rams had both of their first games washed out before their five-wicket loss to the Rangers last week, although Daniel Pryse was able to snare 4/23 and Conor Schultz (27) and Lachlan Rohde (22) also held their own with the bat.

Scottie Clark also took two wickets for Millewa in the pervious game, showing his all-round prowess.

The visitors will go in as favourites today, but the Rams can’t be counted out on their home deck.
