Jake Reed grabs three scalps in Premier Cricket comeback

JAKE Reed roared back into action in his return to Victorian Premier Cricket (VCP) at the weekend with 3/37 for Footscray.

The 31-year-old former Victorian Sheffield Shield fast bowler from Red Cliffs made his VCP comeback after a spate of injuries.

The former Irymple and Nursery Ridge paceman hit form as the VCP began on Saturday with a round of one-day games.

Reed faced former club Geelong and, after taking the new ball, grabbed team-best figures as the opposition was dismissed for 225.

Footscray reached 5/229 with eight deliveries to spare, securing a five-wicket win.

Former Mildura Settlers premiership player Ben Rowles helped Camberwell to victory in his first game as captain, knocking over Dandenong by three wickets.

Dandenong made 7/189 from their 50 overs, before the Magpies chased down the total with three wickets in hand, Rowles making 36 at the top of the order.

In the Women’s Premier Firsts, Melbourne captain-coach and former Gol Gol star Teagan Parker saw her contest with Ringwood incomplete due to rain.
