SUNRAYSIA Willowfest have postponed the Over 50 and Over 70s Hoggies Estate Willowfest Veterans Cricket Championships due to the current COVID situation.
The cricket carnival was set to be held in Mildura on September 17 to 19, however current border closures and the uncertainty around the current pandemic have made planning the event tough logistically.
With the possibility of the Sunraysia Football and Netball League (SFNL) extending their season, grounds could also be unavailable to use.
Willowfest Veterans, which ran for the first time in 2019, will look to reschedule the competition for either December 27-30, alongside the Willowfest Cricket Carnival, or early April next year.
In a media release, Willowfest chairman Peter Shadwick said the current situation had made planning difficult.
“We hope to run the championships … once the current outbreak has died down and borders are open once again,” he said.
Team from New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria were set to use the event as a warm-up for November’s national championships.
