Red Cliffs Cricket Association Round 17

South West v Fire Brigade

THE two teams out of finals contention have only pride to play for in the last round of the season.

For South West, today’s clash represents a chance to notch up their first win in what has been a long, hot summer for the young team.

The big issue for South West, however, is trying to manufacture a winning total. They are still short of 1000 runs for the entire season, but maybe today is the day where it all clicks with the bat.

Fire Brigade went down in a high-scoring clash against second-placed Tempy last weekend and will fancy their chances of a big score today.

Connor Lynch made 64 and Lachlan Rohde 63 in an excellent opening partnership and South West will need to dismiss these two early if they are any hope of a long-awaited win.

Millewa v Nursery Ridge

TOP side Nursery Ridge will look to tune up for a premiership tilt when they take on in-form Millewa.

Nursery Ridge is a runaway leader at the top of the table, and should get the job done today, but they would be wrong to underestimate Millewa.

Scottie Clark was in brilliant form last weekend, conceding just 1/10 from his eight overs in a miserly display, and he has also enjoyed a solid season with the bat, averaging more than 30 batting at No.4.

If he can again produce the goods, and Shannon Anthony can catch fire at the top of the order like he did last week with 44 off 38 balls against the quality Ouyen Rams attack, then Millewa could cause an upset.

Ouyen Rams v Tempy

OUYEN Rams will look to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Millewa last week when they take on the second-placed Tempy.

It took a late flurry from Nic Monaghan to get Tempy over the line last round against Fire Brigade, with his 47 not out from No.8 the difference in a tight win.

The Rams struggled to a total of 124 from their allocated overs last weekend, so they will need to get more proactive with the bat against the typically tight Tempy attack.

While the result won’t change the ladder today, psychologically, there is a bit to play for ahead of the finals for both teams.
