Day-night Tests a delight

HOW good is day-night Test cricket?

The atmosphere at the ground is great, and for those of us who work during the day, it’s terrific to be able to knock off with a couple of refreshments and sit down and watch some good international sport on the TV.

It’s a shame we will only see Indian captain Virat Kohli in this Test before he returns home for the birth of his first child, but overall this series should be enthralling to watch.

After a long year with the COVID-19 pandemic ruining a lot of sporting events it is soothing to have our sporting summer back reasonably to normal.

In the future I believe more day-night Tests should be played, when and where possible.

It might not be practical in, say, Western Australia given the time difference but across the eastern seaboard and South Australia there’s no reason why we can’t have more than one day-night Test as part of a series.

It almost creates a different game than the standard day with the red ball, and the subtle nuances should make for an overall better contest across a series.
