Brigade fires again

FIRE Brigade reclaimed the Brad Manna Memorial Shield with an easy 59-run win over Merbein South at the Quandong Park Caravan Park Oval yesterday.

Half-centuries to Lachlan Rohde (74 not out) and Mark East (52) as well as a brisk 34 from Jason Beard helped Fire Brigade to 8/191.

Justin Frankel took three wickets for Merbein South, with Daniel Carmichael claiming two.

In response, Merbein South never really got going and were nine wickets down for 99 before the tail wagged to get the team to 132.

Frankel’s 21 was the side’s top score. Rohde took three wickets for Fire Brigade.

It was Fire Brigade’s third win in the annual match, with Merbein South winning last year’s edition.
