No Cricket Victoria deal for Rhiann O’Donnell

FORMER Mildura West cricketer Rhiann O’Donnell has missed out on a Cricket Victoria contract for season 2020-21.

The talented all-rounder, along with injury-riddled former Irymple and Nursery Ridge paceman Jake Reed, are among 12 players across the men’s and women’s squads who will not proceed with Victoria this season.

Former Workers Gol Gol cricketer Makinley Blows has been retained after a promising season in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, Wil Parker, grandson of the late Brian Weightman, has signed his first full Victorian contract – choosing cricket over football.

“Wil Parker is a talented athlete and we’re excited he’s chosen to pursue cricket,” Cricket Victoria’s general manager of cricket Shaun Graf said.

“He gave us a glimpse of what he’s got to offer in his two Shield games last season. We believe he’s got the skill and temperament to succeed in what is a difficult cricketing artform.

“His initial experiences last season will hopefully give him some added confidence moving forward in his career.”
