All Abilities Cricket Carnival cancelled

MALLEE Sports Assembly has been forced to cancel its popular Mildura All Abilities Cricket Carnival this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The carnival, which was to be held in October, draws teams from around the state to compete in a senior and schools competition.

MSA project officer Tanya Wild said in a staement a number of factors determined the cancellation.

“COVID-19 has limited the travel and excursions for school groups and organisations,” MS Wild said.

“We also do not want to put our vulnerable community members at risk by undertaking the event this year.

“Sponsors and participating organisations have already been informed of the decision, with MSA hopeful the support will remain for the 2021 event – tentatively booked for October 2021-22.

“Mallee Sports Assembly is still committed to host and conduct the Mildura All Abilities Cricket Carnival in the future,” Wild said.

“We wish to advise all teams, players and supporters that this has not been an easy decision to make. Our decision to cancel this year as early as possible was to ensure that groups have plenty of notice.”
