Sunraysia junior cricketers still get chance to play

WHILE Friday’s rain resulted in the Sunraysia Cricket Association’s under-14 and under-16 matches being called off, the association’s youngest cricketers were still able to get play in.

The SCA’s Junior 1 and 2 competitions were cleared to go ahead if weather allowed, with the Junior 1 (under-10s) and Junior 2 (under-12s) mostly played on synthetic pitches or at Red Cliffs where there was little rainfall.

Junior 1 and 2 games are played under modified conditions utilising shorter pitches and boundaries, fewer players on the field and – one of the key selling points – a guaranteed opportunity for every child to bat and bowl.
