Mallee Murray finishes seventh in Dowling Shield

MALLEE Murray fell to Highlanders by 22 runs in their final Youth Premier League Cricket under-16 Dowling Shield match on Thursday.

The Highlanders made 3/105 off their 20 overs as Irymple pair Bailey Anderson and Jack Baird contributed a wicket each to the Mallee Murray cause.

In response, Mallee Murray closed at 9/83, with none of the Sunraysia players able to reach double figures.

Mallee finished seventh with a 1-6 record over the week.

The Youth Premier League format continues into the new year, with the under-18 boys starting on January 13.

The under-14 boys started in November but will continue from January 13.

The under-14 girls will also continue from January 6, as will the under-17 girls.

Meanwhile, the under-14 boys, under-14 girls, under-16 boys and under-17 Youth Super Series matches between Renegades Country (Mallee Murray’s zone is part of this) and Metro and Stars Country and Metro will be held from January 21.
