Swallows coast to victory over Mildura West

IRYMPLE started their season with a comfortable win over Mildura West at Henshilwood Oval.

The Swallows chased down Mildura West’s first innings total of 9/149, comfortably reaching their target in the 32nd over.

Bryson Lush led the way for the home side with a classy 74 off 84 deliveries and he looks to be a real find.

Lush received good support from Riley Payne (19) with the pair putting on 83 for the opening stand to set up their side’s win.

Mark Thomson also started the new season well with an unbeaten 21 off 25 balls.

Thomson also did his job with the ball, claiming 1/20 off eight overs.

For Westies, improving youngster Ben Hallam made a solid 54 at the top of order while Shane Driscoll (22) was unable to go on with it after getting a start.

International recruit Aaron Feroz was the pick of the West bowlers with 3/17 off seven overs.

Despite the loss, Westies have plenty to look forward to with a number of big-name players set to return in the coming weeks, including captain Chris Williams, who is overseas on holiday.

For Irymple, they will again be a serious contender.

The Swallows have great depth in their bowling and batting departments and, like Westies, were also without some top players.
