SCA looking for new administration manager

THE Sunraysia Cricket Association (SCA) is on the hunt for a new administration manager after Roger Walder’s resignation from the position.

Weeks away from the start of season 2019-2020 new SCA president Andrew Farlie and his board will be looking to fill the role, charged with the day-to-day running of the competition.

“Generally we’re looking for someone who can spare 15-20 hours a week, during the season it’s fairly intensive – there’s obviously weekend work involved – they’ll need to be available Saturdays and Sundays,” Farlie said.

“A bit of cricket knowledge would be handy, but a lot of the work done is on the keyboard, if they’ve got knowledge of MyCricket that’s fantastic, if they don’t we can still work around that.”

Farlie backed his new board to be able to cover the role for now.

“It’s not an ideal time to be chasing someone up for this role but in saying that there’s enough skills on the board at the moment to cover that in the interim,” he said.

“As long as we go out and try to find that person to serve the SCA well over hopefully the next five years.

“The new board has got a good mix from current players to business management, there’s a bit of strategic thinking through the board as well so I think we’ve got a big job over the next couple of years to set up the SCA for the future.”

Farlie was elected the new SCA president this week, taking over from Bill Sauer, with Mark Dorman vice-president and Mathew Hunt, Tom Vadlja and Melville Lyons coming on to the board.

“We’re going to be going through a state of strategic planning and addressing issues with the bylaws and re-positioning all those for the coming years so we’re going to need a bit of an all-rounder (for the admin manager position),” Farlie said.

“We went part of the way with it last year with the work Roger did but that’s got to continue on this year, looking towards more of a long-term plan in relation to the SCA.”

Details to apply for the role are on the SCA website.
