Mildura’s new COVID-19 cases drop below 100 … just

ANOTHER 96 new COVID cases were reported in the Mildura local government area on Wednesday.

The number was a slight drop on daily figures that have topped 100 in recent days, but the number of active cases in the LGA remains above 600.

In the Robinvale postcode, outside the LGA, another 10 new cases were reported, for a total of 57 active cases.

Although new-case numbers have been dropping around much of Australia, the daily number of deaths remains high in the eastern states.

Queensland recorded its deadliest day of the pandemic on Wednesday, with 24 deaths. More than half of these fatalities were in the aged care sector.

Victoria recorded another 21 deaths and there were 20 in NSW.
