Mildura COVID case number approaching 1000

ANOTHER 87 new COVID cases were recorded in the Mildura local government area on Monday and the total number of active cases is nearing 1000.

Of the overall total of 2404 cases in the area since the beginning of the pandemic, 902 are active now. Most of those infected are being cared for through Mildura Base Public Hospital’s home-monitoring program, although the hospital now has a dedicated COVID ward of eight beds and two ICU beds to care for the most seriously ill patients. Previously, these were sent to Bendigo or Melbourne.

In the Robinvale postcode are, another five new cases were recorded for a totla of 91 active cases.

NSW figures have been heavily affected by testing lags, but that state’s government says Wentworth Shire has recorded 125 cases over the past four weeks.

Victoria recorded a total of about 22,000 new confirmed or probable cases, and six deaths. NSW recorded 29,504 new cases and 17 deaths.
