MILDURA businesses are invited to share their concerns about worker shortages in Mildura’s hospitality and retail sectors during an online forum next Wednesday.
Hosted by Member for Mildura Ali Cupper, the two-hour event will begin at 5.30pm.
An invitation has been extended to all Mildura businesses, but attendees must RSVP to Ms Cupper’s office at: ali.cupper@parliament.vic.gov.au.
Ms Cupper said the online forum would allow her to hear firsthand about the challenges local businesses were currently facing.
“COVID-19 pressures have exacerbated recruitment and retention of staff for these sectors, and it’s particularly urgent at this time that something be done about it,” Ms Cupper said.
“Businesses are cutting trading hours, some owner-operators are working close to 100 hours a week just to keep the doors open.
“This forum is an opportunity for me to hear firsthand about the challenges facing local businesses and will inform my advocacy to the Victorian Government moving forward.”
