ROBINVALE is on high alert as it awaits confirmation of a potential positive COVID-19 case.
Some businesses in the small north-west Victorian town have voluntarily closed their doors on Monday as a precaution, with fears the person may have been out in the community at the weekend.
Robinvale Ward councillor Jade Benham said the the new case had not yet been confirmed by the Department of Health and Human Services.
“I don’t like using the word rumour, so really the town is on standby,” Cr Benham said.
“These businesses are taking precautionary measures in closing their doors as there is no directive as yet.
“But after being so protective of our little town for so long, people are being proactive and co-operative and that is fantastic.
“It is what we have done so well over the last two years. We are very protective of our patch, and while it is inevitable we will get cases, it is a good sign that we want to avoid putting too much pressure on our health services.”
There is a testing site at the main entrance of Robinvale District Health Services, as well as walk-in testing at Murray Valley Aboriginal Cooperative.
