New rules in play to get kids back to the park

CHILDREN across Sunraysia are getting back into the swing of things this weekend after playgrounds reopened on Friday.

Two-year-old Jasper Castle was among thousands of Victorian kids to enjoy a trip to the park to celebrate play equipment being reopened after being stuck at home since playgrounds closed on August 21.

But “no hat, no play” isn’t the only rule for kids keen to get back on the swings, slide or monkey bars now Victorian playgrounds are back.

Under the rules, which came into play from Friday, playgrounds are open for children under 12 only and each park will have QR codes for carers to check in with their little ones.

Children can be accompanied by only one parent or carer and adults should not remove their masks to eat or drink – so no picnics at the park or coffees with friends.

Premier Daniel Andrews was expected to announce regional Victoria’s path out of lockdown next week.
