Mildura still only has one confirmed COVID-19 case

MILDURA has still reported just one COVID-19 case confirmed by the Department of Health and Human Services as of Thursday.

The case was originally confirmed on Saturday, with no new cases reported since.

Victoria, however, has recorded its first three deaths from the virus — two overnight on Wednesday, and the third on Thursday.

The total number of cases in Victoria was reported at 520 by Thursday and 2685 confirmed nationally.

In Victoria, 14 patients are in hospital with three in intensive care and 149 have recovered.

Victoria’s chief health officer Professor Brett Sutton reminded the state of the precautions that needed to be taken.

“We’re doing everything we can to save lives and slow the spread of this deadly virus, but we all have a role to play to protect those who are most vulnerable,” he said.

“I can’t be clearer; if you can stay at home, you must stay at home.

“Everyone who’s unwell must isolate themselves and everyone who’s been told they’re in quarantine either as a returned traveller or close contact must do so.

“Social distancing will save lives.”

Mildura’s dedicated COVID-19 clinic opened in Thirteenth Street on Tuesday.

The clinic at Sunraysia Community Health Services (SCHS) will operate Monday to Friday from 1-4pm.
