Ali Cupper voices COVID-19 fears for Robinvale

MEMBER for Mildura Ali Cupper fears the Robinvale township is a COVID-19 tinderbox that has just been lit.

Ms Cupper said the town had a high number of transmissions, including four residents in intensive care and a "significant population" that is still unvaccinated.

She said the danger was not limited to Robinvale, but the township had objective factors that made its risk particularly high during the pandemic.

"The situation in Robinvale is likely to get worse before it gets better," Ms Cupper said.

"If you are not vaccinated at this point in time, it is in your interests and in the interests of our community to limit your movements voluntarily.

"Governments are not going to do what they have in the past to protect us from ourselves in the event that we don't want to do what's right and what's needed, and that is to get vaccinated.

"But I'm genuinely worried about what might unfold over the next few weeks."

She said unvaccinated residents need to make a commitment to get vaccinated when they can, but in the meantime they should voluntarily limit their movements.
