Mildura’s full vaccination rate soars

MILDURA'S rate of full COVID-19 vaccination has soared to 82.1 per cent as North West Victoria continues to smash its targets.

All four local government areas in the Mildura electorate now have more than 80 per cent of their over 15 population fully vaccinated, with Yarriambiack hitting 87.6 per cent, Buloke jumping to 92.6 per cent, and Swan Hill surging past the 95 per cent mark.

North West Victoria was predicted to hit its 80 per cent double-dose vaccination target on Saturday, November 6.

Instead, that benchmark was met on Tuesday, October 26, a staggering 11 days ahead of schedule.

Member for Mildura Ali Cupper said what has been achieved across the board is incredible.

"It's amazing that I can represent an electorate that's demonstrated time and time again what it means to look after each other," Ms Cupper said.

"What the latest vaccination numbers demonstrate is the appetite of people to get their lives back to normal, and the way to do that is through vaccination."

Ms Cupper said the vast majority of people in Mildura, Swan Hill, Buloke and Yarriambiack have boosted their protection.

"Importantly, they're also safeguarding those around them, including young children and the medically exempt, who are unable to get a COVID-19 vaccine," she said.
