THE heat remained well and truly on in Mildura, as temperatures exceeded 40 degrees for the second day in a row on Sunday.

The mercury was already above 39 degrees by 12pm at Mildura Airport, and temperatures only dropped to 26.1 degrees overnight.

Sunday's maximum temperature of 41.3 Celsius marked the sixth day temperatures have exceeded 40 degrees since the start of the year.
