LAST month marked the 80th anniversary of a World War II incident when a plane carrying Flight Lieutenant Allan Hammet was shot down over Poland.
Flt-Lt Hammet, who grew up in Red Cliffs, was the sole survivor.
Amateur historian Brett Osler said part of the plane's wreckage struck Schindler's Enamel Factory, which was later made famous by the film Schindler's List.
