DONATIONS made by good Samaritans have given a local man a new lease on life.

Bike mechanic Chris Davis had modified his old bicycle to enable him to carry out ­errands and assist his unwell mother.

But after that bike was stolen from behind the gates of his Avocado Street home, coverage of Mr Davis' situation helped drive calls to find his missing transport.
