AFTER a successful first year in Mildura, the WomenCAN program ran an information session last week for people interested in taking part next year.
The program aims to help women find their way back into regular employment through monthly catch-ups and traineeships. Currently, the charity works with MADEC to get women trained to work in aged care homes.
After an information session run by WomenCAN's project officer Karina Pappin about the program in general, Carol McRae from MADEC spoke to the women about being a personal care aid in aged-care homes.
Ms McRae demonstrated putting on sterile gowns and gloves before using a blue light to demonstrate whose hands were clean and whose only appeared clean.
"(WomenCAN) is such as new program so being more and more out and about telling people about the program is good," Ms Pappin said. "Today we told the women about the program, what our role is and how we put all the pieces together to get them in placements and studying.
"It's great to have MADEC here, because I've never worked in aged care and it helps the women gain an insight into what aged care is all about."
Women interested in taking part in the initative should visit the WomenCAN office at 101a Ninth Street, Mildura.
