Printers find new life at not-for-profits

RAY White Mildura staff were shocked at the response after the team announced they would donate two office printers to not-for-profits.

Managing director Damian Portaro said he was surprised by the number of organisations interested in the printers.

“I didn’t expect so many people reach out, we got dozens of applications,” he said. “It was very hard to pick.

“I feel like we now need 20 more printers to give away.”

One of the two recipients was the Christie Centre, which provides individualised support and opportunities for people with disabilities.

The second printer found a new home at the Sunraysia Cancer Resources, which offers information, support, and practical assistance to cancer patients, their families, and carers.

The two printers cost about $10,000 each.

This is not the first time the local Ray White agency has made a significant donation, having recently given 900 Christmas gifts to the Mallee Accommodation and Support Program to distribute to underprivileged children.

Mr Portaro said following the success of the printer giveaway, he’s considering doing more work with charitable organisations in addition to individual donations.

“With the 900 gifts, they go to MASP, but they’re going to individual people,” he said.

“But we’ve never done anything business-to-business like this before.

“It does make me think about what, as an organisation or as an individual, we can do and what we can do as a community to help each other.

“I don’t know what that looks like yet, but I’m certainly interested.”

Mr Portaro said Ray White Mildura will continue to support the community because of how much the region has supported them.
