THE expected closure and sale of about 100 company-owned Beaurepaires stores across Australia will not affect Mildura.
It has been widely reported that up to 700 jobs with Australia’s oldest tyre retailer were on the chopping block by the end of the year after a third-party national corporation declined an arrangement to buy the company.
Goodyear Autocare Mildura, formerly Beaurepaires Mildura, will remain open and unaffected by these changes, as it has been a franchised business since 2002.
Goodyear Autocare Mildura owner and director Nick Reck said since consolidating Goodyear and Beaurepaires locally in 2020, they’ve never been busier.
“The Beaurepaires entity in terms of the franchise in Mildura finished about four years ago,” Mr Reck said.
“We merged the Goodyear Autocare and Beaurepairs store into one, and we now run wholly and solely as a Goodyear Autocare franchise.”
The Etiwanda Avenue store was among a range of stores in Australia that had transitioned from the Beaurepaires brand to become either a Goodyear Autocare or a Dunlop Super Dealer.
Mr Reck said they had fielded several concerned calls on Friday morning and he had reassured customers that the site would remain open for business and there would be no change to the business, customers or supply of tyres.
“There’s really no change for us … no change in the business model,” Mr Reck said.
“It’s separate to the company-owned Beaurepaires stores altogether.”
