Bonza approved for Mildura to Gold Coast launch

BONZA’S Mildura to Gold Coast route will finally take to the sky, after weeks of cancellations and interrupted holiday plans.

On Tuesday, the airline announced the commencement of the flights from December 23, after its two aircraft, leased from Canadian airline Flair, received regulatory approval.

The first flight was initially scheduled to leave at the start of December but without approval, flights had to be called off, leaving many flyers scrambling for an alternative.

Several Sunraysia people voiced their frustration at the situation, as tickets were still available to purchase for flights prior to December 23, all of which have been cancelled.

Bonza CEO Tim Jordan said he understood it had been a “challenging time” for customers.

“To them, we say we’re really sorry and we’ll learn from this and do better to deliver for Australia,” he said.

“Now that we have approval for the two additional aircraft we’re scaling up our operations and servicing our new routes from our Gold Coast base.

“To mark the occasion, Bonza said it would offer 30 per cent off flights between the destinations until January 31.

Travellers can book now on the Fly Bonza app using promo GOLDIE until Thursday.

“This is our way of acknowledging we could have done better and also shouting from the rooftops that Bonza is back,” Mr Jordan said.

Travellers are encouraged to download the Fly Bonza app, the only place to book directly.
