Heads stay up at Mildura beauty salon

CAITLIN Grambau’s Mildura beauty salon was one of many businesses in the industry forced to shut its doors for the second time in a matter of months due to stage 3 restrictions.

But the closure hasn’t shut down her determination to work.

She has been able to find a temporary space on the NSW side of the border where she can continue providing services and delivering products to her clients.

“It’s something to do, it’s not about the money,” Mrs Grambau said.

“It’s about being able to keep myself busy and if I can service my NSW clients, I will do that.”

She said it was only a matter of time before restrictions were put back in place.

“It hurts. We knew it was coming, it was just a matter of when,” she said.

“Obviously with JobKeeper in place, it’s nice to know your staff will be looked after when we do close.

“If it means closing to help Victoria, we will do it.

“I want to see my family, so if we close now hopefully that’s one step closer.”

Mrs Grambau said the second closure had been devastating but she had adapted to the changes with a bit more time up her sleeve.

“When we last went into lockdown we only had 24 hours’ notice, whereas this time we’ve had extra days,” she said.

She said her phone was “ringing off the hook” and online bookings were in high demand as soon as it was announced the restrictions would take effect.

Fellow staff members at the salon will be using their time this time studying and upgrading their qualifications.

“We’ll keep our heads held up, that’s all you can do,” she said.
