Robinvale solar farm connected to grid

A ROBINVALE solar farm has been connected to the grid, its developer says.

Suntech Power Development Australia, a subsidiary of Suntech Power Japan Corporation, said construction of the 9.47 MWp (AC) solar farm was completed on Thursday.

It was said to be built on 22 hectares and have the capacity to power about 2300 homes.

Located 700 metres from the Robinvale substation, it was described as one of the first Australian solar farms to utilise string inverters on utility-scale.

Retailer Mojo Power had entered a power purchase agreement for electricity generated by the solar farm.

Suntech Power Japan Corporation chief executive Zeight Gao said it was the company’s first 100 per cent-owned project in Australia.

Construction took six months and was said to have been completed on time despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
